Ebaugh Labs houses the Department of Chemistry and
Biochemistry for Denison University. The
19,250 square foot addition, and renovation of the 32,750 square foot existing
building, was completed on time and under budget. The 14 month schedule allowed the University
to occupy the building two weeks early.
Ebaugh Labs is now a state-of-the-art facility with sixteen laboratories
that boast thirteen different service utilities including nitrogen and chilled
water. Also housed in the building are a
nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, and ultraviolet visible spectrometer,
and a computer controlled gas chromatograph.
To put the complexity of running these systems into perspective, there
is over one mile of piping installed in the 1st floor alone!
Ebaugh is registered with the certification of LEED®
Gold. With this extensive renovation,
recycling is only one of the many LEED procedures that were implemented on this
project. Other procedures included: light pollution reduction, building re-use,
use of regional materials and use of low-emitting materials.
