The new Central Sterile Supply facility at OSU Wexner Medical Center is the first freestanding sterile processing facility in Ohio. The facility will reprocess and sterilize surgical instrumentation and allocate sterile supplies for Ohio Wexner hospitals and outpatient care centers throughout central Ohio. The 62,000-square-foot building has the capacity to support the care for more than 48,000 surgical patients per year.
The project took place during the onset and height of the initial COVID shutdowns affecting the nation. These obstacles created a multitude of lost time due to project closings for disinfecting and close contact quarantining.
The project was completed on time and within budget.
The project required more than 22,000 man-hours performed within a dense footprint.
