Location:  Lancaster, OH

Project Owner:  Toxco

2012-2013

We are currently putting the finishing touches on the shell package for a battery recycling facility in Lancaster, Ohio.  When completed, Toxco will be one of the only facilities of its kind, recycling the batteries from electric cars. Claypool Electric has been a key team member from the start of the project, working with the owners and the general contractor to facilitate the design, plan approval and permitting. A number of value engineering proposals were proposed, budgeted and worked into the final design to ensure that the facility would fit the needs of the client and be built at the lowest possible cost.  We have designed all electrical, fire alarm and voice/data systems for this facility.

Work at the facility has included a new primary service with a group operated air brake switch and 2500 KVA transformer, new 4000 amp switchgear lineup, new power distribution system, lighting, fire alarm, and data cabling with a fiber optic bridge from the existing plant.

This facility has a number of innovative, energy saving components that directed the design.  For example, they are using gps driven, sun tracking skylights to help light the manufacturing area.  In order to  maximize their energy savings we installed lighting with light harvesting and occupancy sensors.  Collaboration during the design process ensured that these types of money saving ideas were incorporated into the building.
